How to Save Money

This is something that most people are trying to do these days….Save Money. There are a lot of ways that you can save money, sometimes you just have to be a little creative. The next series of articles will be about the various ways you can save money. Let’s start with something that everyone does….Grocery Shopping! You can save money by using coupons, but you can also save money without using coupons.

First is saving money with coupons at grocery stores. We have seen the shows where a person loads up a cart or 2 and the bill total is less than $40. The person has a few binders full of coupons, usually multiple coupons for the same product. They spend hours preparing for their trip to the grocery store and have made couponing a full time job. You do not need to have a system like this in order to save money with coupons. All you need is a small coupon organizer to keep your coupons organized in one place. One way to really save money with coupons is to go through the store’s sales ads and match the coupons to the products on sale. With this method, you can really lower your grocery bill.

If you are not into clipping coupons, you can still save money at the grocery store. You can save 40% - 60% each item by looking for manager’s specials. If you have not heard of manager’s specials, let me explain what it is. At grocery stores, even stores like Walmart and Target, there will be items that are being discontinued or getting close to the expiration date. The expiration date could be 2 days or 7 days depending on the product and the store. So the store will mark the item down in order to sell it. This can be produce, meat, dairy, frozen food, baked goods, anything that a store sells. You may need to go to the store more often, so this is not for the person who prefers to only shop every 2 weeks. Now if you use coupons on top of the manager’s specials; you can get an item for practically nothing.

Regardless if you use coupons or do not want to spend the time with coupons, you can save money at the grocery store. It will just take a little extra effort in finding the deals and maybe having to go to more than one grocery store.
